The Client has requested that we design an add-on board, that later became a replacement board for his already existing electronics controlled Water Coolers. The purpose of this request was to enable online 24/24 monitoring of the quality of delivered product and to gather statistics on the usage of the unit. The design incorporate a fully isolated power supply, a microcontroller that turns on and off the dispensing of water when a bottle is detected with a help of range finder sensor. Among the challenges we conquered in this project we like to mention the software algorithm for the microcontroller. The we wrote was able to sense a transparent bottle in the alcove even with the sensor covered with water droplets. The algorithm was designed with safe guards against falls detection(water, and ambient light reflections).
